She owns her house so has to pay for the upkeep of it herself with no living allowance.<br /><br />This set against some of the money that we as a country freely waste or give away makes my really angry. I live in the Western United States and wh...Helene,<br />I live in the Western United States and while heating gas is relatively inexpensive here (compared to the UK at least) not every dwelling is on a gas line. Some are heated with oil, natural gas, propane, wood...about anything that is legal to use as heat. Many people here and all over the US face "fuel proverty" too. We can afford to heat our house now, but we may face a similar problem in coming years as I have just lost my job and my husband is unable to work. So, while I don't live in the UK I do understand the problem and hope that British Gas will step up and do something to help people having to choose between eating and heat. Best of luck to you!
