I bet you all are busy preparing for Christmas right now, but maybe you can spare a moment and come and visit my garden for a few minutes? I have no photos today, just a movie which should set you in the right Christmas mood, should you need it :-)
The movie was filmed over 3 days last weekend, look out for the busy squirrel running around putting peanuts into pots and containers all over my garden. No doubt he will be back soon when he is hungry - to dig them all up again! The choice of the second song was made because of the pigeon - it looks like it is bopping with the music, I had to find a song fairly the same beat as it was doing lol....OK, no more teasers - I will let you see the rest in peace. The movie is best viewed in HD in full screen - and with your speakers thoroughly turned up :-)
Music:
'White Christmas' - Louis Armstrong
'Merry Christmas Everyone' - Shakin' Steven
'Silent Night' - Michael Bublé
Happy Christmas to you all!
Helene
Have a good christmas HELENE
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you too Roger!
DeleteYou treat your squirrels so much better than I treat mine! Mine are dependent on seed dropped by the birds and the unripe guavas, which they bury as if they were nuts.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a very merry Christmas, Helene!
Well, I don't normally feed the squirrels! This was a strictly one-off to get some good footage for my Christmas movie, normally the squirrels help themselves on the bird feeders and have to work a bit harder to get the seeds and nuts out. There are other people in the neighbourhood who feed the squirrels monkey nuts though, so I keep finding nuts in my pots and containers all the time - I have even found sprouting peanuts when we have hot summers, which is pretty amazing for London.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours Kris!
A real fun movie with the birds and squirrels and then the cat was there too. Enjoyed it very much, also the music, especially the second one of Shakin'Stevens.
ReplyDeleteWish you a Merry Christmas Helene.
Thank you Janneke, glad you liked the movie and the music. Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2018.
DeleteLovely. have a happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI hope that sneaky cat didn't catch anything - did you cut off it's convenient entrance point?
I can assure you Sue, the cat has never caught anything in my garden - too lazy (or wise maybe?), I guess he knows he is not quick enough to catch them lol. I don't normally use ground feeders, it was only that day to get some good footage for my movie. So normally the birds are fed high up in the trees and only the pigeons and other larger birds will walk around in the garden and look for food.
DeleteWishing you and yours a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2018!
Wonderful video, Helene, it's made by talented author. I liked a robin and then suddenly appeared a rusty cat, surprise! The music goes well too, especially to your nightly lit garden. So many lights and the song 'all is calm all is bright' -----awesome!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you, my dear, wish you healthy year and finally renovated house :-)!
Thank you Nadezda, I am glad you liked the movie and the music, my garden look so different at night and I wanted to show you all what a magical place it is with all the lights - even though it is a bit too dark to film at night with my small, cheap camera.
DeleteMy bathroom is finally finished renovated, the small work to be done in the kitchen has not been started yet so I am afraid the house is still not finished. My patience is starting to wear thin but hopefully the work will commence after Christmas.
Wishing you a lovely Christmas celebration!
Loved your movie!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing the birds, and the squirrel was so funny!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks Lea, glad you enjoyed the movie and enjoy the rest of your Christmas holiday :-)
DeleteMerry Christmas, Helen. What a lovely garden. I am amazed to see so much green there now. To my mind, London is a cold, wintry place like here :-).
ReplyDeleteLondon has a rather mild climate during the winter, with long periods of 10-12 degrees C during the day and shorter spells of down to freezing at night, but very seldom snow. And if we have any snow it rarely stays on the ground for more than hours or a day at the most. My garden is green all year round and I still have roses in bloom :-)
DeleteI love gardening in London!
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas holiday!
I very much enjoyed your video, Helene! Isn't it great fun to watch the birds and squirrels and other visitors? Believe it or not, we have continuous wildlife action even here where it is very cold in winter--that's one thing that helps me get through it. But I certainly envy your Camellias, and Snowdrops, and other beautiful blooming things--that won't happen here until March. I hope you had a very Happy Christmas! Best wishes for a wonderful 2018!
ReplyDeleteI am pleased you liked my garden movie, the ‘wildlife’ here is fun to watch and most of it can be seen from kitchen and livingroom windows when weather is not good enough to be outside.
DeleteI can believe you have bird visitors to your garden in the winter, even in Norway we have sparrows and many other birds all winter.
I have been out in the garden today looking around, found the first Helleborus hybridus flowering! Will take photos when it is a bit more open.
All the best for a great gardening year in 2018!
Truly delightful Helene. Thumbs up for opening with Satchmo. Wishing you well for 2018.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alistair, always liked Louis Armstrong :-)
DeleteAll the best for 2018.
We have those same gray squirrels here. I enjoyed seeing the birds at the feeder and the squirrel at work. Those blue tits are so cute and colorful!
ReplyDeleteThose grey squirrels are not native to UK, they are American 'immigrants' that was first introduced by the Victorians. Our squirrels are much smaller and dark red.
Deletethanks for the movie, love the music, and seeing your garden and some of its visitors. Happy New Year to you, Helene.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the movie, I try to make a new one every month. Happy New Year to you too!
DeleteHappy New year, Helene! Your garden is lovely, as always. Wishing you the best! Deb
ReplyDeleteA very belated Happy New Year to you too Deb - and all the best for the new gardening year!
