Early bright morning

I am ending November on my blog with a photo I took this morning, just before the sun was getting up – and just before I was getting back to bed again. I have had a 48 hour migraine coming and going and my body clock is thoroughly confused again, I try to sleep as much as I can when I have migraines like that, it’s the only thing to do.

I was up early this morning to take some more medication and try to eat and drink a bit and realised that it was going to be a nice day today. Very cold, but with a crisp sunshine. I had my breakfast, or skipped lunch and dinner from the day before – whatever you choose to call it, it was only some porridge anyway but it tasted beautiful. And as I put the dishes away I realised it was getting light and the moon was full and shining straight into my kitchen and I just had to get my camera and tripod out. So there I stood, with a sore head, on the steps of my backdoor, in my dressing gown with a thick overcoat on and a big scarf around my neck and my wellies on my bare feet – just picture the sight....and took photos of the moon. Oh, well, what don’t we do for a good photo, hmm?

The little devil-gnomes hammering away in my head continued with their mining – their tunneling project not really finished for this time after all, despite medication - so I went back to bed and slept till just after 3 pm. Body clock still thoroughly confused, not really sure when I will get to bed tonight, if at all. Will be back with more photos for you next month, which is not long till :-) Take care.

  1. Well thank you for making the effort to take this shot. It makes a fantastic photo.

So sorry to hear how you've been suffering with migraine. I remember my Aunt, who lived with us and raised us as children, suffered most dreadfully with migraine. She would have to retreat to her room, close the door, draw the curtains and try to sleep. Hers would go on for days.

I hope you feel much better very soon.

  2. The days are oh, so short now, aren't they? So the moon, the sun, and our bodies seeming to be coming and going in different directions at the same time (I'm not sure that made sense, but...). I'm sorry you had a migraine. I hope it's gone now, and that you'll find some equilibrium.

    1. Hello Beth, I am better now, it's just gone past midnight and I have had a late breakfast...or perhaps an early one – impossible to say, when day and night is all mixed up. It’s my second breakfast porridge in 15 hours, but it is nice, warm, easy food to eat when you’re not really hungry and just need to eat something. I am still weary from the migraine, but my head is much better. Tomorrow I will feel fine.

  3. Hi Helene
So sorry to hear about your migraine. Glad to hear it's letting up.
What a fantastic photo!!!!!! And yes - it's interesting when photography becomes a well loved hobby, how we start to see so many things as photo-ops. I certainly never did before. I'm sure as I passed many a familiar area or plant, I thought: isn't that lovely! Now I immediately think -ooh! ooh! where's the camera??? Thanks for the beautiful photo and continue to get well.

    1. Hello Astrid, thanks for your well wishes. The gnomes have left for now and my head is my own again! I have been out in the garden today in a very chilly but crisp sunny day, only 4 plus Celsius. Think we will get the promised frost overnight, we just about missed it last night.

I started taking photos when I got my first camera, as a 12 year old, I think of my camera as a part of my body, I would feel helpless without one and I don’t feel I have experienced something properly until I have taken a photo of it!
Hmmm, OK, perhaps a topic for a post here :-)

  4. Helene, glad to hear you're feeling better. I am always impressed how you can find joy even when you're down. By the way, I wanted to thank you for your words of wisdom on my site. You are an inspiration -- in case you had any doubt. Be well and take care!

    1. Thank you Kevin, your kind words mean a lot to me, and I so enjoy reading your blog too – even though my visits to you and other people have been a bit sporadic the last few months. I tend to visit the blogs I follow every time I have written a new post, and in between I completely forget about blogging and do other things. The first year I was blogging I seemed to be chained to the computer 24/7 writing or replying to posts, I have reduced it a bit to allow for other things I like to do :-)

  5. Hi Helene, lovely photo of the moon. You should have taken a photo of the photographer as well. Your description sounds hilarious. Take care.

    1. Hmmm, not sure if a photo of the photographer would have been entirely appropriate, can’t say I felt that presentable! I think I’ll leave it with the description and people’s imagination :-)

  6. So sorry to hear that you suffer from migraines, especially ones that last more than a day :( I used to get them as well and hated every minute they took over my body. I hope you sleep well tonight and wake up migraine-free!
